得獎年表
Michael's
films have never been conventional. They have each been carefully
made to amuse, to inspire and to delight the audience in Michael's
unique calculated way.
Michael's movie
career started out as an actor in the title role of Li Han-Hsiang's
THE WARLORD (1972). The film was an immediate box-office hit. He
continued to star in 3 more films by Li before he embarked on his
own career as actor-writer-director with Games Gamblers Play (1974)
which became the then-highest blockbuster movie ever in Hong Kong.
His next projects such as The Last Message (1975), The Private Eyes
(1976), The Contract (1978) and Security Unlimited (1981) firmly
established Michael as the most popular comedian in Hong Kong and
South East Asia cinema.
In 1987, Michael
became a producer of his own movies. He wrote and appeared as actor
in a series of critically-acclaimed and box-office success films
such as Chicken & Duck Talk (1988), Mr. Coconut (1989), Front
Page (1990), and Always on My Mind (1993). In 1992's The Magic Touch,
Michael returned to the director's slate after an interim of seven
years. In 1996 and 1997 respectively, Hui returned to the screen
by starring in Clifton Ko's Funny Business and Wayne Wang's Hollywood
production, The Chinese Box.
